J.Lo Stops
Anti-Fur Ad
 |
| |
An anti-fur ad
attacking
Jennifer Lopez
was pulled from
a US magazine.
Music industry
paper Billboard
was set to run
the full-page
People for the
Ethical
Treatment of
Animals [PETA]
ad in Monday's
[March 28]
edition.
The ad featured
the image of a
skinned animal
alongside an
open letter to
Lopez, who wears
fur products and
whose new
signature
fashion line
Sweetface uses
fur.
The letter aimed
to "[call]
attention to the
fact that
rabbits, minks,
foxes and
chinchillas are
gassed,
strangled,
beaten,
electrocuted,
trapped and
drowned to pack
your closet and
your clothing
line full of
fur."
According to the
New York Daily
News, Billboard
gave in to
pressure from
Lopez's record
company Sony and
publicist Nanci
Ryder to drop
the $5,000
[£2,650] advert.
Ryder told the
News: "I'm doing
my job, which is
protecting my
client."
PETA has since
e-mailed the
spiked ad to
radio stations
across America
and is planning
a mass protest
to coincide with
the premiere of
Lopez's new
movie
"Monster-In-Law".
"Monster-In-Law",
co-starring Jane
Fonda, premieres
in Los Angeles
on April 28.
