Usher is furious and has lashed out at Jennifer Lopez for allegedly stealing a song he originally recorded for his mega-successful album Confessions. Usher claims Jenifer's new single "Get Right" is a re-recorded version of a song he'd co-written called "Ride" which wasn't included on Confession, but was available as a 2004 12-inch club record and on the Internet. Usher: "I hate it. And I'd better get some of the publishing rights, I didn't put it on my album because I couldn't get it right. But I didn't expect J.Lo to just take it." Rich Harrison, producer of both tracks, co-wrote the track with Usher and apparently decided to use it during recording sessions for J.Lo's upcoming album. According to FOX news, this isn't the first time Lopez has bitten the works of others. She allegedly remade "I'm Real" featuring Ja Rule on an inside tip from Tommy Mottola who said ex-wife Mariah Carey had done something similar with the same music sample for what turned out to be ill-fated Glitter soundtrack.
Jennifer Lopez might "Get Right" on her new single but according to Usher, he got it first. Usher claims J.Lo's new single "Get Right" is a re-recorded version of his own tune called "Ride". "Ride" didn’t make it onto 2004’s Confessions but Usher did release the track on the internet. So how did it get into J.Lo’s hands? Usher co-wrote the track with producer Rich Harrison who is now working with the Bronx diva. Usher is said to be shocked by the new rendition, and is expecting some publishing money.
Latina superstar Jennifer Lopez is reportedly struggling to complete her fourth original studio album Rebirth in time for its March release date. American network Fox News' correspondent Roger Friedman reports the Jenny From The Block singer rejected footage for a DVD documentary after her new manager, film producer Simon Fields, approved it without her permission Fox sources say Lopez returned to the studio to re-shoot the video to be more "flattering and less revealing of her limited vocal range". However, Lopez's producers have welcomed the input of her third husband Marc Anthony, an experienced songwriter and singer.
USHER ACCUSES J.LO OF SONG 'THEFT' USHER has lashed out at R&B rival JENNIFER LOPEZ for allegedly stealing a song he cast aside while recording the hugely successful album CONFESSIONS. The YEAH! star claims J.Lo's new single GET RIGHT is a re-recorded version of RIDE, a song Usher co-wrote last year (04) which is only available on the internet. The 26-year-old rages, "I hate it, but I'd better get some of the publishing rights or else. I didn't put it on my album because I couldn't get it right. But I didn't expect J.Lo to just take it." Producer RICH HARRISON co-wrote the track with Usher and he decided to use it during recording sessions for J.Lo's upcoming album REBIRTH, lifting the horn section completely and re-using the same vocal pattern.
Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony's marriage is reportedly on the rocks. The couple, who married in a surprise ceremony last June, are said to be arguing over Marc's controlling behaviour, according to America's In Touch magazine. Sources claim that Marc is jealous of J.Lo's ex-fiancé, Ben Affleck, and has made her sell the Miami and Los Angeles homes they used to share. He has also allegedly banned her from wearing skimpy outfits and has told the broody singer that he doesn't want children, as he already has two sons from his first marriage to Dayanara Torres. One told the magazine: "They've been arguing, but recently things seem to be getting worse. The main problem is J.Lo wants children and Marc doesn't want any more. But J.Lo's worked flat out to get where she is and wants a child. "Marc made her sell the houses as he wasn't comfortable in places where she had spent time with other men." J.Lo married Latino singer Marc, who became her third husband, last June, just six months after splitting with Affleck. She has made no secret of her desire to have children and recently said that a baby would be a "perfect" gift, before adding that she had never been happier than she is with Marc.

Actress Jennifer Lopez is planning to bring her fashion street smarts to the catwalk on MTV next month. Lopez -- who recently revealed plans to embark on her first fashion show -- is inviting MTV cameras to promote her clothing line, J.Lo By Jennifer Lopez, for a special broadcast. Jennifer Lopez: Beyond The Runway, set to air on February 24, will follow the superstar as she runs her clothing company and juggles her other career duties as her show at Olympus Fashion Week approaches. Lopez said, in a statement, ``I've had a passion for fashion for so long. I am that girl who comes from the street, who comes from the Bronx, but has traveled the world and can bring all of those glamorous qualities, so it's like a sexy street glamour."
JENNIFER LOPEZ looked as though she was stepping back in time as she took to the stage during an awards ceremony at the weekend. Legendary dancer Fred Astaire, famed for his dapper dress and cane, wouldn't have looked out of place alongside J-Lo, who was a guest at the NRJ awards in Cannes, France.
Latina beauty JENNIFER LOPEZ has cancelled her performance at next month's (09FEB05) BRIT AWARDS following an argument with husband MARC ANTHONY over her baby plans. Salsa singer, Anthony allegedly told broody Lopez he doesn't want to have children because he already has two sons, RYAN, 16 months and CRISTIAN, 3, with ex-wife DAYANARA TORRES, as well as a daughter ARIANNA, 11, with ex-love DEBBIE ROSADO, reports British newspaper the NEWS OF THE WORLD. And friends say Lopez has decided against flying to London for the music ceremony so she can work through her problems with Anthony, who she married last June (04). A source says, "They're been arguing, but recently things seem to be getting worse. The main problem is J.Lo wants children and Marc doesn't want any more. "But J.Lo's worked flat out to get where she is and wants a child. She loves Marc and she's torn." Earlier this month (JAN05) Lopez admitted she was desperate for a baby, saying, "I have always been very big on family and I've always said it will happen one day. I would love it."
J.Lo is back and determined to leave her soap opera dramas behind for good, Sal Morgan writes. Arriving at Sony Studios in New York I'm prepared for some seriously demanding diva behaviour. After all, I am about to interview Jennifer Lopez. Surprisingly, there's no entourage of beefy bodyguards, no stylists or assistants. There's no make-up artist, coat carriers or bedsheet thread counter (250 threads minimum, say the gossips, or she's out of there!). As for the all-white room with white lilies, white candles and white leather lounges, I couldn't find it anywhere. What's more, Lopez is running on time (practically unheard of in the world of superstardom) and is, I'm assured, "in good spirits". Curled up in an armchair and wearing a cap, Lopez certainly looks low-key, in fact I practically walk straight past her. "Hi, I'm Jennifer," she smiles. The singer/actor looks cool and comfortable in fitted jeans, khaki army-style shirt, grey hooded jumper and boots. Wearing barely any make-up, her skin is flawless, with her trademark sun-kissed J.Lo glow in place (even though it's four degrees outside). So, how to address this supposed egomaniac? Is she "Jenny from the Block", "J.Lo" or just plain "Jen"? "Call me whatever!" laughs Lopez. "J.Lo was just a bit of fun that got really crazy. I've never really been anyone but Jennifer." As for some of those rumoured diva demands? "They're for crazy people to believe," she says. "I've been asked all this stuff from using a $700 tub of La Mer face cream a day to my pre-nup 10 commandments. I can't believe that people read that stuff and they think it's true. It's crazy." Crazy it certainly is, but it's not that hard to believe. It was not quite a year ago that Lopez officially announced, after two near-miss weddings, that "Bennifer", her hugely publicised relationship with Ben Affleck, was over.
"It
was out of control," she says. "I
was at fever pitch pace. It was
unnatural, what I was doing. I had
so much shit happening, I had to
stop. I had to take time out and
reassess."
And so she did. For five months Lopez spent time at home in Miami "doing absolutely nothing". "It was a real soul-searching moment in my life. Not only did it calm me down, it stilled me a little bit," she says. "It was kinda like a breakdown that had to happen." It was at that time that Lopez rekindled her romance with Marc Anthony, whom she first met and dated briefly in 1998 when they sang a duet on her first album. It's not hard to imagine why Lopez gravitated back to familiar territory so soon after her relationship with Affleck imploded. Born just two months apart in 1969, Lopez and Anthony are from similar backgrounds. Both of their families emigrated from Puerto Rico where they grew up with the sounds of salsa music and aspirations to be artists. Anthony is also producing Lopez's first Spanish language album, as well as two of the songs that appear on her new album Rebirth, including This Is Me. "It's like a big movie song," says Lopez of the track, which was written about her new husband. "It's about relationships and makes perfect sense about where I am right now. It really captures the heart." So is that what happened to Lopez, did Anthony capture her heart? "You know that was one of the problems, I used to talk about personal things when I didn't need to," she says. "Suddenly all the focus was taken off me as an artist and put into my life, which was made out to be a soap opera." Lopez has sworn to never talk about her personal life again unless it's through her music. "It just wasn't enjoyable anymore so I had to stop and take responsibility for my mistakes," she says. "I asked 'How can I change my life to make it what it was? How can I make it better now?'." Lopez admits to taking on too much but says she's certainly slowed down and that it shows on Rebirth. "I feel like this is the most important album of my career," she says. "It's a fresh start. A new beginning. A new me. "At first I was like, 'I want to do a little more funk, be a little bit more soulful'. But then I just found I responded to certain songs they stood out and I just knew instantly which ones I wanted to record and who should be involved." The songs tell of heartbreak and romance and staying real to yourself. They are, says Lopez, about "your own personal experience and what you've been through". "The more stuff I go through the better," she says. "I'm able to understand and express myself. I always heard different actresses and artists say that but now I realise how true it is." It seems there's no stopping Jennifer Inc. "There's no reason to stop right now," she says with a smile. In fact, away from her musical endeavours, she's hoping for a movie hit in the near future. "It's not easy to make good movies," she says, possibly thinking of the best-forgotten Gigli and Jersey Girl. "But I'm not about whether things do well. That's not the satisfying part of it." Her next release is a romantic comedy Monster-In-Law, co-starring Jane Fonda and directed by Australian Robert "Legally Blonde" Luketic. "I can't help myself, I just love romance and fairytales," says Lopez. "I still believe and want to see a happy ending." Rebirth will be released on February 28. Spiritual rebirth of a pop divaJennifer Lopez may have a new vow not to talk to the press about her private life and marriage to Marc Anthony, but one of the songwriters behind her next album is happy to chat. Rodney Jerkins, a hit writer for Britney Spears, the Backstreet Boys, Mary J. Blige and Michael Jackson, has written and produced two tracks on Lopez's new album Rebirth. His inspiration for the track I've Got You was, he says, Lopez and Anthony's relationship. "From what I looked at on TV, from newspapers and everything, I just took that and created a song about it," he says. "It's basically saying, 'No matter what people say about relationships, about us, no matter what their view is, you got me and I got you. That's the bottom line'." Lopez herself has sworn not to talk about her relationship unless it is through her music but says this song really sums up her feelings. "It's where I am right now," she says. "It's got a bit of a sexy vibe to it," laughs Jerkins. His other collaboration with Lopez is Step Into My World, a more dance-sounding track that the writer says speaks for itself. "It's basically just exploring J.Lo's world and what her world is all about," says Jerkins, who produced Lopez's breakthrough single, If You Had My Love. "The more I hear it the more it grows on me," says Lopez. "Every time I hear the song it takes on a new dimension."
Pop diva Jennifer Lopez and rhythm and blues sensation Usher lit up the stage today in the French Riviera town of Cannes at the 2005 NRJ Music Awards, France's flashy answer to the Grammys. The star-studded live broadcast, complete with a paparazzi-lined red carpet reminiscent of the Cannes film festival, was the kick-off event for the world's biggest and most influential music trade fair, MIDEM, which begins tomorrow. Among the winners, Los Angeles band Maroon 5 took home two trophies for international breakout act and best international song for the catchy This Love. The group is up for the Grammy award for Best New Artist next month. Usher won for international male artist of the year, defeating rapper Eminem, rocker Lenny Kravitz and pop singers Robbie Williams and Billy Crawford. Rocker Avril Lavigne was named best international female artist over pop princess Britney Spears and a trio of American R&B stars - Alicia Keys, Anastacia and Beyonce. But performances by some of the biggest names in international pop music largely eclipsed the presentation of the awards. And as for fashion statements, white was clearly the colour of the night. Lopez, sporting a sultry white tuxedo with black lapels, electrified the youthful crowd with the first live performance of her new single Get Right, from her upcoming album Rebirth. Usher - decked out from head to toe in white, including his diamond stud earrings - swaggered through his monster hit Yeah!, eliciting screams from the women in the audience with his hip-thrusting dance moves. The king of American R&B, nominated for eight Grammy awards, dominated the charts in 2004 with Confessions, the year's top-selling album in the United States with nearly eight million copies sold. Keys, a five-time Grammy winner nominated for eight statues this year, delivered a powerful rendition of If I Ain't Got You. She followed the A-list dress code with a white trouser suit. Other winners included US hip-hop group Black Eyed Peas, which took home top honours for best international album with Elephunk. British pop quartet Blue won for best international group or duo. French-Canadian pop star Roch Voisine took home the award for Best Francophone Male Artist. NRJ is one of France's most popular radio stations, and more than five million listeners cast ballots in 13 categories - six French-language, six international and the video of the year - ahead of today's ceremony. Irish rock band U2 received a special career achievement award. The group was originally scheduled to perform, but frontman Bono told reporters one of the band's members was attending to a sick child.
Alongside presenter Chris Evans's big ego, there could be a pair of big buns headlining this year's Brit Awards. If organisers get their way, J-Lo will be strutting her stuff on the big stage as the gongs are handed out to the musical elite. And McFly. Probably. According to reports, a Brits spokesman said: "Jennifer Lopez is one of the people we have asked to perform and we're waiting to hear if she can fit it into her schedule. “The line-up is already great, but it would be great to have her on the bill, too." So they're, like, not that bovvered or anything. Despite playing it cool, we hope the Brits team have got their paintbrushes handy to redecorate the dressing room to Mrs Marc Anthony's exacting standards. And, oh, is that a job lot of fancy-dan scented candles and lilies we see being shipped into Earls Court in preparation?
Jennifer Lopez has just become a little sweeter - she's been immortalised as a chocolate statue. Confectionary giant Cadbury and Madame Tussauds have teamed up to create an edible likeness of the singer and actress. The chocolate sculpting was introduced last week at Madame Tussauds Wax
Jennifer Lopez has
announced that she can be referred to as
'Jennifer', 'J-Lo' or 'Jenny'.
Ask Usher what he thinks of Jennifer Lopez (news)' new single "Get Right" and he might say "that's just wrong." Fox News is reporting that Usher already recorded "Get Right" as a single called "Ride." The song wasn't featured on his smash album Confessions, but it was released as a 12-inch club record and on the Internet last year. In fact, both "Ride" and "Get Right" were produced by Rich Harrison who is said to have used the same horn track on both songs. Lopez' single was released as "Get Right" because it's mixed with a rap record with the same name by Fabolous. Usher is reportedly furious about Lopez's release. When he was asked about her version of the song Fox News claims he said, "I hate it. And I'd better get some of the publishing (rights).

However, unlike the latter, which was watched by some 89 million U.S. viewers and raised $150 million, the two-hour Tsunami Aid: A Concert of Hope only drew 5.7 million by comparison--possibly due to audience fatigue from around-the-clock cable news coverage. No word yet exactly how much money was raised during the telethon. NBC is expected to make an announcement on Friday.

Pop Diva Jennifer Lopez was seen wearing fur in New York this week. The 35 year old singer actress was filming a promo for her next single “Hold Me Down” in the Bronx. Lopez tried on three different fur coats on set which is sure to anger anti fur campaigners. The singer has attracted criticism in the past for frequently wearing fur from ethical organisation PETA. Recently married to third husband Marc Antony, she is concentrating on her singing career after a series of movie flops. She is also said to be fed up with the “J-LO” tag and is rumoured to be considering titling her new album “Call me Jennifer”.
Pop beauty JENNIFER LOPEZ hates visiting nightclub toilets, because autograph-hunting fans always gather around her cubicle. The JENNY FROM THE BLOCK singer has learned to deal with the frenzied attention she attracts in public, but still feels uncomfortable relieving herself in close contact to star-struck revellers. She says, "People follow you into the bathroom. They listen to you pee, wait for you to come out of the stall, and then ask to shake your hand or sign the loo roll. "There's something not quite about that."
[Hollywood
News]: London, Jan 18 : Latino diva Jennifer
Lopez who's movie Gigli was ridiculed by critics
has once again rushed to the defence of her
film, insisting that the appeal of the original
script was impossible to resist.
R&B star Jennifer Lopez has toned down her 'bling-bling' wardrobe in favour of "comfortable" clothes, but she still has a taste for expensive jewellery. Jennifer has started wearing more conservative outfits since marrying Latino singer Marc Anthony last June, and her prolific clothes-buying in the past is starting to pay dividends. The 35-year-old says, "This coat I'm wearing now has been in my closet for six years, so I have all this new stuff that's actually old. "I still love my hoop earrings and my bling but I also see myself gravitating towards stuff that is a little bit more comfortable and lived in."
Jennifer Lopez is hoping to visit Australia as part of a promotional tour centred on the release of her new album, Rebirth.
If negotiations
between Sony BMG staff in the US and
Australia are successful, Lopez
could be here in the first half of
the year to present her new music to
Australian fans.
The pop diva formerly known as J.Lo (yes it's true, she now wants to be known as Jennifer) had all but confirmed a visit to Sydney in late February, for a brief promotional tour. But release dates for the album in the United States were shifted to February 28, so Lopez's management is trying to work out different dates for her proposed trip to Australia, possibly in March.
"We
want her to come, and
she definitely wants to
come out here, but it's
a matter of finding
space in her schedule,"
a spokeswoman for Sony
BMG Australia said.
For some fans, the old "finding a hole in the schedule" line might indicate Lopez actually is too busy to visit our shores. But insiders insist the singer has definite plans to visit Australia this year, and she has not given up on the trip simply because of scheduling changes.
The prospect
of Lopez's
visit brings
back
memories of
her trip to
Sydney in
2001 when
she arrived
in true
superstar
style, with
husband-to-be
Cris Judd.
(Now firmly
in the
category of
ex-husband).
Her press conference at the Boomerang mansion in Elizabeth Bay was an absolute circus of beefy security guards (watching over J.Lo's arrival by boat), gushing publicists and one of the largest entertainment media packs I've ever seen. Members of the press were warned off about asking questions about her troubled break-up with Puff Daddy - although we snuck a few in anyway - but it was hilarious simply witnessing the frenzy surrounding Lopez's every word and movement.
Of course, that was before the "Bennifer" years (when attention was primarily focused on Lopez's relationship with Ben Affleck) and film flops including Gigli, so it will be interesting to see whether Lopez can create a similar fuss this time around.
As for the music? The word from the States is that Lopez is back in form with some hot R'n'B dance tunes, but we'll have to wait and see whether the singer makes a massive impact on the charts.
Jennifer Lopez has been keeping a low profile in New York after marrying Marc Anthony, suggesting she may be trying to live a more normal life. The newlyweds tried not to draw attention to themselves during a recent visit to London Jewelers in an upscale Manhasset, N.Y., shopping center, Long Island's Newsday reported Sunday. "Some celebrities pull up in the Rolls Royce with bodyguards, and they're dressed like they're going to a gala, because they want to be noticed," said store manager Richard Cefalu. While customers stared at the starry couple, sales staff -- trained to be discreet when the rich and famous come to shop -- remained cool as they helped Lopez try on what Cefalu called some of the shop's more "user-friendly" gems, including a diamond necklace.
LOPEZ: 'I'D DO GIGLI AGAIN' JENNIFER LOPEZ has once again rushed to the defence of her critically-mauled 2003 movie GIGLI, insisting the appeal of the original script was impossible to resist. The actress has appeared in a series of box office flops over the past few years, but she's defended her disastrous on-screen collaboration with BEN AFFLECK, claiming she'd happily repeat her experience shooting the film. She says, "I would pick Gigli again. There was some interesting writing in it. You never know how a movie is going to turn out but if you believe in it, you go with it. "If I had the time to do it again, I would. "It was a moment in time. It was what it was. It all seemed like the right thing. I did my best and it's important I stand by my work."
Browsing for diamonds at Manhasset's tony Americana shopping center might not seem like the most down-to-earth activity to most Long Islanders. Then again, most Long Islanders aren't Jennifer Lopez. But La Lopez has been keeping a lower profile lately than in the days of Bennifer and Puffy, and recent sightings of her on Nassau's North Shore -- where her husband, singer Marc Anthony, owns a home in Brookville -- may indicate a longing toward what passes, at least along the Gold Coast, as a more normal sort of life. Lopez and Anthony made a casual entrance when they strolled into London Jewelers one weekday this past summer, said store manager Richard Cefalu. "Some celebrities pull up in the Rolls Royce with bodyguards, and they're dressed like they're going to a gala, because they want to be noticed," he said. Not so J. Lo, who wore jeans and a casual bandana over her head. "If you didn't recognize her, maybe you wouldn't give her a second look," he said.
While some customers gawked,
Cefalu's sales staff -- trained to discreetly
handle the pampered set -- kept their jaws in
place as they helped the star try on what Cefalu
called some of the shop's more "user-friendly"
gems, including a diamond necklace.
Long home to some very serious
old money, Nassau's North Shore is the sort of
place where celebrities such as Lopez or
homegrown star Billy Joel may merit notice, but
it's considered ill-bred to talk about it.
[Hollywood
News]: London, Jan 15 : Latino diva Jennifer
Lopez has revealed that she moved out of her
Hollywood house and sold it because it was too
much like a 'movie star house' rather than a
'homely' place.
Jennifer Lopez
has insisted that she is not an attention
seeker, and only wants to be recognised for her
music and movies.
Jennifer Lopez says she sold her luxurious Hollywood home because it was a "movie star house". The sexy star, who married third husband Marc Anthony last June, says she wanted a property that was "homely" so she downsized. She said: "It was a movie star house. I've bought a smaller one instead. We have a house in Long Island like a French chateau. It's glamorous but still homely. It's a house to live in, to grow old in. you can see yourself there in 50 years." J.Lo, who has made no secret of her desire to start a family with Marc, admits she's quite domesticated. She added in an interview with Britain's Glamour magazine: "I love decorating and I love cooking. I'm good at it but I haven't done much lately. I like making breakfast. I've always been very big family and I've always said that it will happen one day. I would love it."
JENNIFER LOPEZ got a few extra dance tips on the set of her music video GET RIGHT - from comedienne ELLEN DeGENERES. DeGeneres visited the Los Angeles shoot of the video recently, and mockingly rivalled the superstar's entourage by hiring a group of men to accompany her - including one who swept the ground in front of her as she walked. DeGeneres also danced with Lopez and her dancers, and made a mess of the dance steps. She told Lopez, "I'd like you to think bigger than videos. Why don't we hear about you? I just wanna see pictures. I just wanna hear, What's Jennifer doing?'"
