J.Lo To Prove
Critics Wrong With Spanish Album |
Sexy
singer JENNIFER LOPEZ will prove her
critics wrong on her first Spanish
language album and prove she has "a
voice", according to Latino
producer/songwriter ESTEFANO.
The Colombian hitmaker has written
and produced tracks for J.Lo's debut
Spanish disc COMO AMA UNA MUJER,
which is released later this year
(06).
Estefano enthuses, "You will be
surprised with this woman's album.
You will be surprised to see this
singer. These are big songs that
require a voice."
Lopez's last album REBIRTH received
mediocre reviews and poor sales in
2005.

Anthony, Lopez
Go To Puerto Rico For Film |
Husband
and wife pop stars Marc Anthony and
Jennifer Lopez were due in Puerto
Rico on Thursday to film scenes from
their new movie — a biopic on the
life of salsa legend Hector Lavoe.
Anthony and Lopez, who will co-star
in "El Cantante," planned to shoot
scenes in historic Old San Juan and
in the southern Puerto Rican city of
Ponce, said Blanca LaSalle, the
film's publicist. They were
scheduled to work on the island
until Feb. 2.
The singing and acting couple has
already filmed scenes in New York.
"El Cantante," or "The Singer," is
based on the life of Lavoe, who died
in 1993 and is credited with helping
to bring Puerto Rican salsa to the
United States.
Anthony, 36, and 37-year-old Lopez,
were married in June 2004.

Jennifer
Lopez In Pregnancy Riddle |
Jennifer
Lopez is at the centre of a
pregnancy riddle after she was
spotted shopping for baby clothes.
The pop diva has sparked rumours she
is expecting her first child after a
source claimed she and her husband
Marc Antony have done "tons of
shopping"
for baby outfits.
The source is quoted on website
MSNBC as saying: "Marc was at Fred
Segal [on Melrose Ave in Los
Angeles] last week and bought a Guys
Infant Gear diaper bag for $120.
"He said something that made it
pretty clear that it wasn't a gift -
that he intended to use it - but I
don't want to repeat it or he'll
know who talked to you."
The source also claimed Jennifer and
Marc have been splashing out on
other costly baby items.
J.Lo has made no secret of her
desire to start a family with Marc,
who she tied the knot with 2004.
The curvaceous brunette said in an
interview last year: "I want a baby
as soon as I can. A baby would just
be so perfect."

Lopez Lights Up
For Film Roles |
Actress
JENNIFER LOPEZ recently learned how
to smoke, because her last two film
characters both suffered from
nicotine addiction.
The MAID IN MANHATTAN star, who
rarely drinks and never smokes, had
to teach herself how to look
convincing while smoking.
She says, "You just have to start
smoking. I don't smoke regular
cigarettes. I smoke herbal
cigarettes with no nicotine, so I
don't get addicted.
"You learn the habit of it - how to
inhale."
However, Lopez's husband, MARC
ANTHONY, is a committed smoker who
doesn't look to be giving up his
addiction anytime soon. When asked
whether she could get her husband to
abandon his habit, Lopez said,
"Forget it. I don't think it's going
to happen."

Lopez's List
Cure For Beating The Blues |
Jennifer
Lopez makes a list of all the things
she has to be grateful for when she
is feeling down.
The lovely Latina admits her bad
days are no better than every
woman's worst moments, but she has
found a way of cheering herself up.
She says: "When I'm like gaining
weight, my hair's a mess, nothing I
wear looks right... I'll make a list
of all the things I have and that
I'm grateful for, and ask myself,
'What are you being so silly
about?'"

Jennifer
Lopez Drives LL Cool J To Lose His Cool |
If
there's one woman who can make LL
Cool J lose his cool, Jennifer Lopez
is it. And she manages to do just
that on "Control Myself," the first
single from his forthcoming album
Todd Smith.
"It was a lot of fun," LL said about
his second collaboration with J. Lo.
The two previously hooked up for the
duet "All I Have," in 2002. "Me and
J. Lo work really well together.
People like the last song we did, it
was a big song and did really well.
But this one is a little more club
and a little more cool. Hype
Williams just shot the video and J.
Lo is dancing in the video. It's
wild. I feel real good about that,
it's real different for both of us."
Jermaine Dupri produced the record,
which has both a throwback beat and
flow. Uncle L's delivery sounds like
something straight out of "Going
Back to Cali."
"I'm battling desire," he said about
a woman he meets in the club who
seduces him onto the dance floor.
"Lord help me douse this fire/ This
internal inferno, hotter than a shot
of Cuervo."
On the chorus, Lopez tells L that
it's hard for her not to jump on him
right then and there. She also tells
him he has what it takes to make her
leave her man. Cool J responds by
telling her she has what it takes to
bring out his bad-boy side.
The man born James Todd Smith says
we're going to see more sides to him
on his album, due March 21. LL
titled it Todd Smith because, he
said, "I was so open, opening up so
much more on every level. Why not
open up and let people know it's a
peek inside of me and my process and
my life? I think the [album]
accomplishes that."
Juelz Santana, Freeway, Pharrell
Williams, 112 and Ginuwine appear on
the LP, as does Mary J. Blige via
"Favorite Flavor," where the Queen
of Hip-Hop Soul compares LL to such
sweets as "caramel" and "lemon drops
with chocolate kisses."
"All I wanna do is show you, boy,
that I taste good too," MJB sings
while L raps, "Mix me and you/ And
we can't go wrong."
Lyfe Jennings sings the chorus on
"Freeze." That record is about a man
who can't settle down and knows the
woman that he might potentially
marry is leaving him.
"Don't change, don't go, don't
leave, just freeze," Jennings
croons. "I know it's a lot to ask."
"I tried to put together something
that would be a little more
inclusive and open and interesting
to people," Cool described of his
album. "I approached the writing a
little differently. It was more
collaborative as far as the writing,
in terms of the song selection and
ideas."
The rapper has a new film, Last
Holiday co-starring Queen Latifah,
hitting theaters this week. The
Queen plays a woman who learns she
has only three weeks to live and
Cool J's character is her love
interest.

Jennifer
Lopez's Husband Cuts Perfume Ad |
Jennifer
Lopez's husband reportedly cut a
kissing scene from her perfume ad -
because he was jealous.
According to In Touch Weekly,
handsome Marc Anthony edited the
commercial for his wife's new
fragrance, Live, and removed a scene
where she smooches someone else.
The Latin beauty had been seen
dancing with a sexy male model
before sharing a passionate kiss
with him.
But the steamy embrace was deleted
before the ad aired.
An insider told the magazine:
"Marc's the jealous type.
"Even though he wasn't the director
of the project, he suggested to
Jennifer that the kiss was a
distraction, and she agreed."
Meanwhile the pop diva has topped
the poll for the worst hair do of
2005.
The sexy brunette's hair style at
the Billboard Latin Music Awards was
voted the Biggest Hair Trauma of
2005.
Kelly Osbourne and Helena Bonham-
Carter were second and third place
respectively in the poll.

J.Lo's New TV
Show Relies On Eye Candy |
J. Lo —
that's Jennifer Lopez, for those not
in the know — is a one-woman, mega-gazillionaire
conglomerate.
She makes movies. She sings. She
dances. She sings and dances in
videos.
You can buy J. Lo clothes. J. Lo
perfume. J. Lo jewelry.
Let's face it: Lopez's business card
is getting mighty crowded. Now, you
can add one more title to that
overstuffed card: executive
producer.
J. Lo is one of several executive
producers of South Beach, UPN's
Miami Vice meets The O.C. meets
America's Top Model meets The MTV
Music Video Awards glossy soap.
South Beach is one of those shows
that's
supposed to look good while not
being overly concerned if it is
good. Set in trendy Miami, South
Beach is all about the babes and the
bling. It's a show where the bling
is king, and the babes are... dumb.
Well, most of 'em.
Says one needle-thin model who
doesn't mind taking off her clothes
for a steamy music video: "This is
how you get to the top. You can only
sleep your way to the middle."
All righty, then.
South Beach is about two Brooklyn
boys who leave the Big Apple for
Miami's fun and sun. While Vincent
(Chris Johnson) wants to get paid,
his best friend, Matt (Marcus
Coloma) tags along for the ride so
he can find his ex-girlfriend
(Odette Yustman), an up-and-coming
model learning the ropes of the
cutthroat biz.
Instead, Vincent and Matt find
themselves getting mixed up with a
well-dressed gangsta (Giancarlo
Esposito) who has his sights set on
taking over a happening hotel owned
by a super-fine woman who looks just
like Vanessa Williams.
Wait! It is Vanessa Williams!
If that's not enough for Matt and
Vince to handle, there are club
fights, gangsta hits and a good,
old-fashioned love triangle. No
guilty-pleasure soap should be
without the latter.
Seems as if Matt's ex, Arielle (Yustman),
is now making time with a
suave/shady club owner (Lee Thompson
Young), who also happens to be the
son of the super-fine Vanessa
Williams.
None of this will be remembered come
Emmy time. So what? South Beach
isn't trying to be The West Wing.
The show's target audience —
twentysomethings who're into hip-hop
and hotties — couldn't care less if
South Beach never made anyone's Top
10 Best Shows list. Which it won't.
The show moves at a brisk pace.
Plus, Williams is solid as a steely
hotelier who dates younger men and
doesn't let tough-talking gangstas
push her around.
And the forever tough Esposito hits
all the right character notes as the
kind of businessman you'd never see
gracing the cover of Forbes.
If you don't care much about acting
or character development or plot or
pacing, well, South Beach has plenty
of eye candy — and loud music — to
keep you entertained.
Just like the real South Beach.
